Common allergic diseases

Allergies have a wide range from a temporary seasonal nuisance to a fatal condition. All around the world millions of people get affected by so many different types of allergies.

The most common allergy is food allergy. People react differently from food allergies from simple trouble to difficult condition. A few individuals can get a lose stomach or slight headache when they intake particular kind of foods. Many people may however feel the real brunt of food allergies causing them to suffer severe problems.

Then there are also allergies due to drugs. Drugs like penicillin may induce strong reactions from the person taking it. Also there are other drugs that may do the same. Many people have been found allergic to sulfa drugs, anesthesia and insulin.

Latex is another cause for allergy. Not known by many, it may cause some serious allergy to an individual. Many situations and contexts may allow a person to come in touch with latex, sometimes at home and sometimes at work. It is generally found in types of rubber including condoms, balloons, shoes, rubber bands, and gloves.

Many people are simply unaware of the dust mite allergy and do not know that they are suffering from a dust mite allergy. Dust mites are tiny organisms that choose warm and dark places as their habitation. The naked eye simply fails to detect them anywhere.

Another common problem related to allergy is hay fever. Some individuals may sneeze with watery eyes, and itchiness for a part of the year while some people may suffer from the symptoms all the year round. The majority of people who suffer from hay fever at stipulated periods of the year, like winter or summer, are in reality allergic to pollen.

It goes without saying that an insect bite or sting would affect all and sundry but in some people the situation may worsen beyond control. There are certain individuals who may experience a condition called anaphylaxis when bitten or stung. This is a very fatal medical condition where the person cannot breathe because of choking and the person may succumb to death if not attended medically as soon as possible.

An impending anaphylaxis can also be understood when there is shock followed by puffing up of the face. Yellow jackets, hornets, bees and wasps are some of the insects that may cause such fatal allergic reactions in the susceptible individuals.

Persons who are prone to face such serious allergies, like food allergies and allergies from insect bites and stings are counseled by their physicians to carry a special medical pack with them whenever and wherever possible. This pack includes an antidote called epinephrine and should be injected. However even with the injectable, medical attention should be asked for whenever there is any inclination of an impending danger from an allergy.
