What causes allergy?
In the following paragraphs we will be telling you the reasons behind allergies and why a few individuals are more vulnerable to the problem than others.
Define Allergy
When your body reacts to an outside substance, which it notes as a threat to its well -being is called an allergy.
The crux of the situation is that more or less every one can have allergies because the body is always going to interpret the unknown allergens such as weeds, grass, pollen and sometimes even food as intrusion into its system. The main difference between a sufferer from an allergy and a non-sufferer is the degree to which the immune system reacts or overreacts to the particular substance. When the body overreacts, the person becomes a sufferer.
As an instance, you can imagine that it is the season of hay fever when the count of pollen is particularly high and we have two people walking on the streets. The individual whose immune system is balanced and does not react severely to any and every outside allergen will not even be aware of the high pollen count. His eyes will not itch or water, and there will be no sneezing. But the other individual may react severely to the pollen and begin to sneeze because of the immune system’s overreaction to this specific type of allergen. Perhaps the eyes will water. In extreme circumstances the person may have respiratory troubles and get choked if the body interprets the pollen as a dangerous invader to its system.
You can now ask why is the difference between a balanced immune system and one that overreacts? It has been discovered through experiments that genes play a great role in determining the nature of the immune system. Maybe it has come down from the parents that the person’s immune system reacts in that way. Perhaps it has come down from the grandparents, but in the majority of the people this predisposition is inherited.
Again, in some cases the allergies are not inherited. Here the immune system of the individual is either weak or problematic due to some other complications. Perhaps insufficient nutrition is playing the trick making the person physically weak. The immune system will hence act in a poor manner. In yet other cases the poor immune system cannot work properly because of some other condition because the body is not capable of absorbing a particular amino acid or protein.
In any case, a "hyperactive" immune system is the real culprit. This causes the immune system to recognize very much harmless things as foes and then experience an out of proportion reaction. Many a person also feels the danger of the reaction because it becomes a pertinent problem. Fatalities are reported due to allergies so it is advisable not to ignore the condition and treat it accordingly as soon as possible.
