what are the most common allergens?
When a person suffers from a particular allergy he or she also becomes susceptible to other allergies from other things too. These things causing allergies are known as allergens and can be many indoor items in your house like mold and mildew, dust particles, particles from pet, biological organisms from furnishings and carpets, and also chemical smoke from agents of cleansing. Allergens found out of doors are insect bites, pollen, and polluted air causing smog and dust, and odorous vapors. There are some foods that can also cause allergies, like eggs, nuts, fish and milk. Most of the allergies are not as dangerous as life taking, but a few can cause a rise in the blood pressure of the person, or choke the person to death. It is difficult to completely cure allergies but they can definitely be treated. In the following paragraphs, you will come to know a few of the many common allergies.
Respiratory Allergies: When you have hay fever your eyes will itch, along with throat and nose. This will be accompanied by fits of sneezing, bouts of coughing and nasal congestions. The allergens that are responsible for hay fever are many kinds of pollen, distributed here and there by wind, then molds, grime, and animal particles. Allergies that are induced because of molds can come from spores in the air that are more typically found in wet climate or warm environment like basements and bathrooms. These harmful floating agents like irritating fiber from carpets and furnishings, dust mites, spores and pollens come from the air that we breath.
Skin Allergies: a variety of factors can cause skin allergies like reaction from foods, insect bites, drugs, pollen, light, heat from sun, cold and emotional problems. The symptoms of allergies of the skin are coming out of hives or urticaria. Here the skin bursts into puffy, red and itchy boils that can last for just a few minutes or persist for a few days. Angioedema is another problem where there is a deep puffiness surrounding the eyes and lips, which may also affect the feet and the hands also.
Food Allergies:This happens mostly to infants below two years of age. Many times it is not possible to trace the substance from where the allergy starts because the condition may be late in showing itself caused by additives in food or perhaps due to patterns of eating. Beans, corns, shellfish, berries, soybeans, wheat, peanuts, egg whites, and cow’s milk are regular culprits. The allergy may lead to nausea, diarrhea, and stomach pains. Also one may experience dizziness, sweating, swoon, respiratory troubles, vomiting and swelling up of tongue and face.
Asthma: one of the most common causes for asthma, allergens that can cause it are pollen allergies, respiratory viruses, pet hair, dust and mold. The irritation can be caused by the allergy leading to asthma from swelling and inflammation of the air passages.
Drug allergies: antibiotics from the penicillin group can cause allergies found in certain drugs. Most allergies from drugs are caused by antibiotics, more easily from those that contain sulfa drugs.
Insect Sting Allergies: another common allergen is the venom from the bites and sting of insects like wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, fire ants and bees.
