Knowing about the connection between pet and allergy

In this write-up, we will talk about one of the most irritating types of allergies for animal lovers – allergies caused by the pets and ways to lessen the problem.

The tragic truth is that 10 to 15% of the population in the world is suffering from various kinds of allergy to animals, which can make having a pet not only bothering but dangerous if the allergy becomes critical. Cat allergies are basically twice as common to that of dog allergies. The body’s response to the animals is due to a certain protein seen in the animal’s saliva, urine or dander. Practically, people are not allergic to the fur of their pet but only to the allergen that remains in the fur, the furniture or the carpeting; it can be in every place where the pet stays.

One question asked by many people is, if there are any types of animals which are not allergic to people. To state the fact, no non-allergic types of animals are available as all animals have dead skin. People can accept certain types of dogs compared to others but 100% non-allergic is impossible to get. Some amount of allergen is being produced by every animal, the amount may be lesser. The allergic sign increases over time of their own after caring or being near an animal, with the most probable time being after around 12 hours. Also, as the pet stays for a long time in the person’s home the allergens start to gather. A person having no signs while caring the pet at the shop may start to show signs as it comes home for a while, basically within a day

So is there any solution for people who want to keep a pet but are allergic? What are they supposed to do to have a pet? The sad part is, that person can only try to lessen his exposure to the allergens. You cannot get rid of them fully. There’s something you can do to stop the gathering of allergens - you can cover the furniture with pillow covers and plastic mattresses. Hard wooden floors and washable throw rugs can be used in place of carpeting. The house should be cleaned as often as possible. Assure that your vacuum cleaner has a HEPA filter or else, allergens will end up spreading into the air. Your pet should be strictly kept out of the bedroom. Though it can be hard for a true pet lover but it is important to do so.

While brushing your pet, use a facemask. After that, change your clothes as soon as possible. Regrettably, injections and other treatments for pet allergies are successful in only about 50% cases. However, experiments with a vaccine meant for people with cat-allergy have been started in recent past. This can pave the way to a great discovery in the near future.
